Welcome to the Gayhead Elementary School Playground Fund, Inc.website. It was created to bring you the latest information on our playground efforts.
Through your generous support (both with our direct donation appeal and other fundraising efforts) we have raised $27,000 for the playgrounds so far! In addition, we have received a $10,000 grant from New York State Assemblyman Marc Molinaro and a $1,000 grant from Stewart's Shops, for a total of $38,000 raised to date.
We also approached the Wappingers Central School District and the Board of Education for funding. They have set aside $15,000 in next year's school budget, so if the budget passes on May 20th (please vote!!), we will have access to those funds over the summer (as of July 1, 2008) and our grand total raised to date will be $53,000!
The PTA has graciously agreed to suspend it's fall fundraising next year so that the playground fund can focus on raising the remaining money needed for the playgrounds. We greatly appreciate their sacrifice and support of our efforts.
