Welcome to the Gayhead Elementary School Playground Fund, Inc.website. It was created to bring you the latest information on our playground efforts.
Through your generous support (both with our direct donation appeal and our recent Walk for the Playground) we have raised $54,788 for the playgrounds so far! In addition, we have received a $10,000 grant from New York State Assemblyman Marc Molinaro and two $1,000 grants (from Stewart's Shops and Wal-mart), for a total of $66,788 raised to date.
We also approached the Wappingers Central School District and the Board of Education for funding. They had agreed to set aside $15,000 in next year's school budget for Gayhead's playgrounds. However, the budget did not pass and the playground money has been removed from the contingency budget.
The PTA has graciously agreed to suspend it's fall fundraising next year so that the playground fund can focus on raising the remaining money needed for the playgrounds. We greatly appreciate their sacrifice and support of our efforts.
